Benefit - who is your advert aimed at?

This advert for Benefit mascara says a lot about feminism or female gaze (if that's the correct expression)  in the 21st Century.
A clearly sexual advert which you would 'traditionally' target to a male market, to a female market.
Interesting as shows that more than ever women are meant to see themselves as sex objects and other women as sex objects.
It also shows the growing idea that cosmetic surgery is just another norm.
To me it is worse that it is targeted at women. I can see how sex is used in this way to sell to men (not that I like it) but I do not see why they should start doing this to women.

I am a muslim female and i have seen your website. I have to say i am terribly disappointed in you. The images that i have seen you take and the paintings that you have done just discriminate and completely offend the status of muslim women. You are not representing yourself through your art but you are representing your religion. I have to say that the way you are portraying islam is absolutely disgusting! islam is such a pure and true religion and seeing as you're "supposedly" a muslim women you should know better and know that your religion is not like that. You are mocking islam and i find that highly offensive.

Islam encourages women to be modest and safe guard their body and you are doing the complete opposite. I have to honestly say that you have no shame. Islam guards the honour of muslim women and you're degrading them by showing them in a bad light. The fact that you state that you're muslim and you're doing this makes the situation ten times worse.

Putting aside the issue of islam, generally women would not want to be disgraced or ashamed in this way. you're an insult to women. You're using islam as an excuse for your artwork just shows how highly you think of your religion(!)

To be honest i dont even see your work as art, i just seriously think that you must have something REALLY wrong with you to come up with ideas like that! you honestly have a filthy mind! grow up.

I hope allah guides you and brings you to the right path. nothing is wrong with expressing yourself but do it the correct way! you will be in your grave alone and your stupid artwork and mocking of islam will not help you! i could not stand by and watch you disgrace my religion!
